Shane Lanson and Stuart Hayers joins CCFC for 2020 exhibition season

New Orleans, LA – (May 12th) Crescent City continues to build defensive depth by adding GCPL veteran, Stuart Hayers, and keeper, Shane Lanson.

Shane Lanson (GK): Lanson joins CCFC after a successful season at #7 ranked Southern Methodist, recording 4 clean sheets and 6 wins in his 6 starts as a redshirt sophomore. He also earned AAC Goalkeeper of the Week after recording a shutout against #2 Duke.

“Very familiar with Shane and his ability” said CCFC General Manager, Jonathan Rednour. “It was great to see he took advantage of his opportunities this season at a top college program. Fully expect him to be a big help for us this season.”

The New Orleans native was named the 2018 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year after leading Jesuit High School of New Orleans to a state title in his senior season. The 6’3 keeper cut his teeth at the amateur ranks having trained with the New Orleans Jesters in 2018.

“Excited to train and compete with the best New Orleans has to offer” said Lanson. “Happy to be representing the city again”

Stuart Hayers (LB): The North London native joins CCFC after an extensive playing career, having featured for both the New Orleans Shell Shockers and Baton Rouge Capitals in the PDL (USL2), participated in the 2009 Summer Universiade competition representing Great Britain, earned All-American honors during his time at Lynn University and helped GCPL side, Motagua New Orleans, reach the 2016 US Open Cup.

“Stu’s a veteran of the game in all aspects” said Rednour. “He’s very dedicated to his craft and will be another leader on the field, which will be vital for our first year.

The 38 year old recently celebrated his third LHSAA DII title as the Director of Soccer at Holy Cross High School. Before joining Holy Cross, Stuart also led the Baton Rouge Capitals to the PDL national final four during the 2011 season.

“This city has long been crying out for a high level club that’ll boost the reputation of soccer in the community and help the local talent play at the next level” said Hayers. “I’m excited to be a part of CCFC and help them with their mission.”

Supporters will get a first chance to see Shane and Stu in action for our inaugural exhibition season this summer. More information on our season is soon to follow.
