United States’ Top Regional Premier Leagues Agree To Create National Alliance

New Orleans, LA (SEPTEMBER 21, 2022) – The Gulf Coast Premier League (GCPL) announced some exciting league news this week. Seven (7) regional leagues, including the GCPL, have created an alliance between the leagues called Regional Premier Leagues.

“This alliance for the GCPL was about networking and collaborating with likeminded leagues from around the country” said CCFC President, Jonathan Rednour. “This allows us to stay up to date with each other’s progress and slowly develop a more synergistic approach as we all grow in our regions.”

Full statement from GCPL:

“The Alliance of Regional Premier Leagues, a new coalition of the United States’ top amateur leagues, has convened and agreed to represent its members as one, unified force.

All Alliance members wish to cooperate to maintain and promote high-level amateur soccer, and each believes that forming the Alliance will benefit the leagues and all national amateur soccer competitions.  In accordance with its first objective, the Regional Premier Leagues have sent a letter to the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) offering to explore a tournament to determine the National Amateur League Champion.

Leadership from the Atlantic Coast Premier League, Cascadia Premier League, Eastern Premier Soccer League, Gulf Coast Premier League, Midwest Premier League, Mountain Premier League, and Southwest Premier League all signed the Regional Premier Leagues’ founding agreement.

“We want what’s best for amateur players and young players looking to find their way up toward careers in the game. The Alliance of Regional Premier League creates a powerful advocating voice for that athlete,” said Eastern Premier Soccer League President Mo Sheta. “This is a historic moment for the game in the United States. The Alliance creates a bond at the amateur ranks that USASA and U.S. Soccer
must recognize.”

Alliance members will retain all current partnerships and sponsorships, and collaborate with USASA to strengthen relationships within the entire amateur structure.

“The Alliance is a vital next step for the regional leagues to achieve a stronger voice within U.S. Soccer and on the national soccer landscape,” said Southwest Premier League President Matt Morse. “Some regional leagues have been around so much longer than the professional leagues, and we want to harness that heritage and history to create a better future for amateur clubs and amateur athletes.”

Each potential new member applicant must be affiliated with an organizational member of US Soccer or sanctioned by US Soccer and will be admitted upon a two-thirds (66.7 percent) affirmative vote.

Regional Premier Leagues

The Alliance of Regional Premier Leagues was formed in 2022 and is a voluntary association amongst the top high-level amateur soccer leagues in the United States. The Alliance serves to create joint minimum standards and determine the National Amateur League Champion.

CCFC celebrate their first win of the season Saturday night

New Orleans, LA (June 6th, 2022) – Coming into this contest CCFC were coming off their worst defeat in club history suffering an 8-0 loss on the road in Hattiesburg last weekend. A much needed result was needed as they faced off vs. Mobile United at home Saturday evening.

A beautiful evening in New Orleans set the tone for the home team as they put on a great display for CCFC supporters. The match started in favor of the boys in blue as they were able to find comfort in maintaining possession early. The first opportunity came in the 8th minute when Cristian Canales beat his defender to find a 1v1 with the keeper, but great technique shown from the Mobile keeper pushed Canales’ shot wide for a corner. Much of the first half would be in favor of Crescent City with the Mobile keeper displaying his talents. Just before the half, Cristian Canales would find himself in another 1v1 scenario and this time finding the back of the net, putting CCFC up 1-0.

The second half saw a bit more fight coming from the young Mobile squad with one of their few chances testing keeper, Mason Baglio, came in the 53rd minute. CCFC came very close to finding the back of the net for a second time when Marcelo Carias found an open goal but soared it high, keeping the score at 1-0. The remaining minutes of the second half would be in favor of CCFC as they closed out the game and celebrated it’s first win of the 2022 campaign.

A night of blunders in Hattiesburg

Hattiesburg, MS (May 29th, 2022) – After coming off a rough loss in the season home opener last weekend, CCFC’s trip to Hattiesburg Saturday evening continued the misery for the NOLA crew with a shocking 8-0 loss.

“These are those games you never want to be a part of, especially on the receiving end,” said Matt Millet. “There’s no excuse for tonight. If we don’t address our glaring issues ASAP, this will be a long season.”

For the second week in a row the crescent city outfit came out flat and gave away an early goal, this one coming in the 3rd minute. What followed should be called nothing short of an absolute routing. The home side pounced on every opportunity from the inconsistent play of CCFC and made the traveling pay dearly. In the 19th minute, HFC would bag another goal after a bad pass in the midfield giving the home side a clear counter attacking chance. The 29th minute would see the 3rd goal fall after a poor clearance from the back line. CCFC’s attacking woes continued with some chances late in the first half coming from much better possession and settled control, but the mistiming of the final third runs offered no real threat. The half ended 3-0 to the home team.

The second offered no relief for the traveling side after a tactical and personnel change from the coaching staff. For a moment, CCFC were finding success in possession and advancing up the pitch, but HFC did what it was capitalizing on all evening, which was poor distribution from the backline, offering a slew of golden opportunities for the home crew. The fourth goal came in the 59th minute, followed by the next 4 from the 68th through the 89th. Not much is there to write about the performance in the final minutes. The game would end 8-0. CCFC’s worst defeat since forming as a club.

Early conceded goal sets tone for loss 2-0 in home opener

New Orleans, LA (May 23rd) – A rough start last night for the home team put the boys on their heels and couldn’t find their rhythm to come away with a result vs. a strong Gaffa FC squad.

Mother nature played tricks per usual in New Orleans with threat of heavy rains, however the overcast and cool breeze made for a great evening to witness some quality football at Holy Cross Field.

“This was an important game for us to come away with a result” said Head Coach, Matt Millet. “Unfortunately our final third efforts continue to be a struggle and something we will be working on this week.”

The game began in horrible fashion for the boys as an early goal in the 2nd minute from Gaffa FC, due to a passing error in the midfield, really put the boys in a tough spot from the jump. While Gaffa FC continued to have success on the counter attack, CCFC were able to settle and begin controlling the game. Winger, Axel Fuentes, showed his skills in the 21st minute by making his way through four Gaffa defenders before getting a shot on frame that tested the Gaffa keeper. Another chance would come from Fuentes just two minutes later with his shot just edging the outside of the goal post. Unfortunately for CCFC, the Jackson, MS crew would increase their lead in the 32nd minute from a set piece, putting them up 2-0. The remainder of the first half would be back and forth with no real chances.

Crescent City came out in the second half with some changes to the line up. Veteran midfielder, Keir Hannity, would see his first minutes with the side since last season and gave the home side some stability in the midfield through the remainder of the game. Most of the second half would be played on Gaffa’s half of the field, with a slew of minor chances keeping the away side at bay. Another scare came in the 73rd minute when a clearance put a Gaffa attacker in a 1v1 situation with keeper Jose Santos, botching his chance at goal. The CCFC supporters were singing loud as two crossbar occurrences almost put the NOLA side back in the game. A 90th minute penalty awarded to Crescent City was the last chance to get on the board, but a surprising unfortunate take from Keir Hannity made it an easy save for the Gaffa keeper. The game would end with a lot left to be desired.

CCFC grabs a point in a tough 1-1 result on the road vs. Pensacola FC

New Orleans, LA (May 8th) – The 6th edition of the Gulf Coast Premier League kicked off this weekend with Crescent City FC traveling to the Florida Panhandle to take on Pensacola FC to start their 2022 campaign. Both clubs met in 2021 in New Orleans where the home crowd left with a pleased 4-2 victory.

On a beautiful Saturday night in Pensacola CCFC would come into the game having yet to find the back of the net, failing to do so in their first two friendlies to start the season.

“We had a rough go of it last week” said Head Coach, Matt Millet. “Finding our rhythm going forward has been our biggest challenge. We needed to improve in this area for sure.”

The game kicked off with both teams getting acclimated with each other, keeping the game mostly in the middle of the park. After settling in, Pensacola FC started gaining ground, putting CCFC keeper, Jose Santos Jr., to the test. The New Orleans native did his part keeping the home team at bay with two key saves in the 20th and 26th minute. One being an acrobatic display reaching the corner just in time. The 30th minute would see the home team catch CCFC sleeping on a counter attack and put the Florida club up 1-0.

Another blow to the CCFC front as the attacking drought continued for much of the first half. Some light would be shed in the 35th minute after a counter attack for the New Orleans crew would lead to Erick Lara finding Cristian Canales on top of the 6 for a great header that would tie the game 1-1.

Coming out in the second half the home team seem to regain some steam and put CCFC on their heels for a good portion of the first 15 minutes, putting the CCFC keeper yet again to the test a few more times. In the 64th minute, CCFC would get their best chance on goal after advancing into the Pensacola 18 in a 3v2 situation, but the final ball would fall short of the streaking attacker. The final minutes of the second half showed fatigue for both sides with chances and challenges becoming more desperate by each passing minute. The game would end 1-1.

Crescent City FC will host their GCPL home opener vs. Gaffa FC at Holy Cross Field (5500 Paris Ave) Sunday on May 22nd for 5:00 PM kickoff. Tickets can be purchased here.
