One and done; CCFC bows out in quarters

New Orleans, LA (July 18th) – Following a strong performance on Wednesday, CCFC couldn’t capitalize their chances early to advance to the next round of the GCPL playoffs.

Mother nature did not play nice just a few hours before kick off, saturating the pitch in most areas, making it a challenge for both teams throughout the game. CCFC started off the contest controlling most of play with BRSC having a few counter opportunities early, but neither team finding their footing. Nestor Peralta Jr. would break the sea in the 24th, giving the home team an early 1-0 lead after a beautiful delivery from Huber Lopez. BRSC would get one back from a set piece, finding big man, Trevor Bisson. Just before the half, a breakaway for CCFC would end in an acrobatic save by the BRSC keeper, keeping the game tied up.

The second half would open up with both teams having opportunities, keeping the crowd very much in the contest. In the the 53rd minute the home crowd would begin to show their displeasure for a non penalty call after Jose Portillo was taken down in the box. Another moment that created tension from the crowd was a penalty given in the 63rd minute for a CCFC handball. BRSC would botch their penalty attempt, but would get the final laugh after an ambitious shot in the 83rd minute from Eduin Delcid would find it’s way past Jacob Randolph, giving the Baton Rouge club their victory on the evening.

Crescent City FC’s GCPL campaign has unfortunately come to an end, but fret not, we’ll be back soon. Thank you for your support. We love you!
