New Orleans, LA (April 7th) – Crescent City FC is proud to announce that Matt Millet has joined as the new head coach for the 2022 GCPL season. Millet rejoins CCFC officially after serving a small stint as interim coach before the pandemic shut down operations in July 2020.
“Matt has been around the game in New Orleans for a long time,” said club GM, Jonathan Rednour. “He’s seen a great amount of success as a player and a coach and has a strong rapport with a lot of the top talent from around the city.”
Coach Millet most recently has seen success as the head coach for Holy Cross High School, winning four consecutive state championships and helping numerous players move on to the collegiate level. Included in his resume is over 15 years of coaching with numerous accolades winning state and regional titles at the youth level. Millet also holds a USSF ‘A’ License.
“Building a club, at the grass roots level like ours, it is key to find a mix of seasoned veterans and younger local talent,” said Matt Millet. “I think that we have a very competitive nucleus in place to compete and with a few solid additions.”
“I am looking to continue to build the bridges that CCFC have been striving to build throughout the city,” said coach Millet. “Continuing to help create an exceptional club both on and off the field, in a city as unique as New Orleans is, as a native, something that I will strive to make a reality”
Millet had short stints in the former A-League with the El Paso Patriots (2001) and Syracuse Salty Dogs (2002) and helped lead the University of Mobile to a national final in 1999, followed by a semifinal appearance in 2000.
“I’m excited to see what he can do at the helm,” added Rednour. “He’s highly qualified and has the pedigree to help bring our club to the level we desire.”
Crescent City FC will play a 10 game league schedule from May through July and will participate in the US Open Cup qualifying rounds starting in September. Information on season passes and game day tickets will be shared shortly.
