Crescent City takes care of business in first home opener v. Mobile United

New Orleans, LA – (November 4th) Crescent City FC opened their home campaign against Mobile United Sunday evening and did so by gifting the home crowd with 7 goals and a waltz to the top of the table.

The visitors were able to fend off CCFC for the first 20 minutes of the contest, but Axell Fuentes and Jesus ‘Chuy’ Rivera proved to be too much for the Mobile squad in the first half. The first goal came from some great team play, forcing the Mobile defense to constantly move, leaving an open lane for Stu Hayers to find Axell Fuentes, who did what he does best and put the home team up 1-0. (goal)

The second goal would come from Axell Fuentes closing down the Mobile’s defense passing lanes and intercepting a ball that led to an easy one-two with Jesus ‘Chuy’ Rivera and opening up a 1v1 with Mobile’s keeper where Fuentes took advantage and put CCFC up 2-0 in the 35th minute. (goal)

Jesus ‘Chuy’ Rivera would open his four goal run on the evening in the 37th minute, thanks to a Leo Barros lay off, Chuy was able to put a beautiful goal in the back of the net, putting the boys up 3-0. Shortly after going up 3-0, Jesus ‘Chuy’ Rivera would waste no time in displaying more of his magic, working with Leo Barros again for an easy lay off and goal to go up 4-0. (goal)

The fifth goal would go down as the play of the evening with some fancy footwork and a great cross by Axell Fuentes, who would find Grant Guthrie for the header on the back post, closing out the first half and putting CCFC ahead 5-0. (goal)

The second half saw the home team switch up their lineup a bit, getting some fresh legs a chance on the action. Goal number 6 would come in the 68th minute from Jesus ‘Chuy’ Rivera after a great chest pass from Eddie Choe. (goal) The Mexican striker would then close out the scoring for CCFC and add his total tally to four goals on the evening in the 74th minute with some easy combo play with Sebi Hincapie and some fancy footwork around the keeper. (goal) The lone chance for Mobile United came in the 88th minute from the penalty spot where the Mobile player struck it wide, hitting the post. The contest would end 7-0 in Crescent City’s favor.
