Crescent City FC opens season with road win versus Louisiana Krewe

Broussard, LA – (October 25th) On a beautiful evening in Broussard, LA, just south of Lafayette, Crescent City FC claimed their first win in the GCPL Fall Tournament Showcase, defeating the Louisiana Krewe 3-1.

The home team came out buzzing, high pressing early and often to keep CCFC on their heels and disrupted. This hard work would pay off for the Krewe in the 19th minute when Mauricio Rancal struck a beauty from top of the Crescent City box to put them up 1-0 (see goal).

Scott Burris (#3) dives between defenders to have a chance at goal in the first half.

The New Orleans outfit didn’t take long before getting one back after Jesus ‘Chuy’ Benitez stripped Krewe centerback, Harrison Houle, off the ball in the Krewe’s defensive third, finding Hisham Abdelaziz’s feet, who fired home the first goal of the season in the 29th minute (see goal). Shortly after in the 37th minute, Axell Fuentes put CCFC ahead after some fancy footwork and a great ball by Grant Guthrie from the opposite wing (see goal).

The second half saw the two teams continue to try to unlock each other’s defense, with only a handful of chances from both teams. The icing on the cake came in the 79th minute from Huber Lopez (see goal), who tapped in a nice cross from Grant Guthrie to seal the win for the NOLA boys.

This weekend, the club will host Mobile United on Sunday November 1st (6pm) at Holy Cross Field (5500 Paris Ave, New Orleans). More details on this game will be announced shortly.
