Crescent City bolsters defensive depth; adds local up and comer, Ethan Garvey, and veteran, PJ Lynch

New Orleans, LA – (April 27th) Crescent City has added two defenders, Ethan Garvey and PJ Lynch, to the 2020 squad.

Ethan Garvey (CB): The 6’6 New Orleans native recently finished his Freshman season at the University of Evansville, earning All-Freshman Conference and All-Conference Tournament honors, along with starting 14 out of 16 matches.

“I’m excited to get started with Crescent City” said Garvey. “Looking forward to learning as much as possible from the coaching staff and teammates”

Ethan joins Crescent City after a successful season with the 2019 GCPL runner-ups, Northshore United, in 2019. The Louisiana Fire Juniors product played a large role in helping lead his youth teams to success on both state and regional levels and also helping Holy Cross High School win back-to-back championships in 2018 and 2019, earning All-State and All-Metro accolades for his Junior and Senior seasons.

“Ethan is a big presence on the pitch and very consistent player” said CCFC Head Coach, Danny Free “His quality will be a great addition to our defensive unit.”

PJ Lynch featuring for Crescent City in a player invitational v. Tulane Men’s Soccer Club on 2/1/20.

PJ Lynch (CB): The Rockville, Maryland native joins the defensive unit adding a plethora of experience having appeared in 35 GCPL games, sixth most appearances in GCPL history, with Motagua New Orleans.

“I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve been in since my college days” said Lynch. “Very excited to work with this group and help get Crescent City on track to being a successful club on the field.”

PJ cut his teeth in the competitive ranks having played at College of Charleston and USL PDL side, Northern Virgina Royals, before moving to New Orleans in 2009. On top of his playing abilities, PJ has helped improve adult soccer in New Orleans by running and growing Crescent City Soccer.

“I have told PJ a few times, in jest, that just because he’s the club president, he still has to prove himself on the pitch” said CCFC GM Jonathan Rednour. “The truth is, he’s arguably one of the more hard working and reliable players on the field at all times, coach Free agreed 100%, so it was a no-brainer for him to be included in the mix.”

Supporters will get a first chance to see Ethan and PJ in action for our inaugural Gulf Coast Premier League season this summer. More information on our season is soon to follow.
