Metairie, LA – (November 20th) In a dramatic ending, CCFC was able to come away with another 3 points versus the uptown outfit, winning 4-2.
Much like the ending of their first contest, both teams came out with a chip on their shoulder and played for keeps. With the contest moving to Lafreniere Park, the smaller compact field amplified any mistakes made by either side, forcing some heavy touches and hard challenges.
The first half favored CCFC, who would have a slew of opportunities, but none would find the back of the net. In the 29th minute, Huber Lopez, would come within inches of finding the side netting, but a finger tip save by the 14th Ward keeper would keep the boys at bay. The first half would end 0-0.
Seven minutes into the second half, Jesus ‘Chuy’ Benitez would put CCFC up 1-0 after chipping the keeper after a great through ball from Emmanuel ‘Taxco’ Arriaga. Shortly after, in the 61st minute, Jesus ‘Chuy’ Benitez would fire home another shot past the keeper to go up 2-0, followed by another goal in the 63rd minute by Eammanuel ‘Taxco’ Arriaga.
With CCFC sitting at 3-0, the home crew began to up their tempo, which forced some major errors by Crescent City. After receiving a red card and giving up two goals, giving 14th Ward much needed momentum, ‘Chuy’ would seal the deal and notch his hat trick for the evening, giving CCFC a 4-2 win.
Next Sunday, the club will travel to Mobile to face off against Mobile United on November 29th (4:00pm) at Sage Park. More details on this game will be announced shortly.
