New Orleans, LA (July 11th) – In a must win situation to achieve the top seed throughout the playoffs, CCFC come up short after giving up two late goals, falling 4-3 to Northshore United.
Northshore United came out in the first half pressing the home team high in their defensive third, keeping CCFC from finding their rhythm. With their backs against the wall, CCFC started to settle in and find their footing. In the 18th minute Huber Lopez would find Nestor Peralta Jr. for a goal after a scramble in the Northshore keeper box. Ashton Perkins for Northshore would once again find space between the CCFC backline and keeper and would score his second on the evening in the 31st minute. The game would continue to favor CCFC, but another counter attack from Asthon Perkins would put the Covington crew back in the game in the 80th minute. The final dagger came in the 87th minute with a remarkable finish from a half chance for Northshore’s Mason Robicheaux. Northshore would leave with all 3 points winning 4-3.
