CCFC shine in front of home crowd

New Orleans, LA (May 17th) – On a beautiful night in New Orleans, Crescent City FC opened it’s home opener versus Pensacola FC in great fashion by notching four goals and earning a win for the home crowd, keeping them top of the table in the Eastern Conference..

“I was happy with the performance and effort the boys put in tonight,” said Head Coach, Wilmer Peralta. “It felt good to get a win for our supporters in our first game.”

The home team didn’t waste any time putting pressure on Pensacola after the traveling team’s keeper came up big in the 6th minute saving a Keir Hannity attempt off the line. Not long after in the 10th minute, Chuy Rivera sent the Pensacola keeper to stretch full extension to keep the home team from scoring, but the resulting corner led to center back Anthony Peters connecting on a Huber Lopez corner kick to give the NOLA crew an early 1-0 lead in the 12th minute.

Chuy Rivera would get on the board in the 27th minute capitalizing on a Grant Guthrie pass to the top of the 18 extending the lead to 2-0. Just six minutes later, the home crowd were pleased to see another goal for the boys in blue when Keir Hannity took a chance on a shot outside of the box, which resulted in a reflection off a Pensacola defender and over the keepers reach for CCFC’s third goal on the evening.

Pensacola would add one to the board before halftime after Lance Nelson connects on a through ball that keeper Lalo Salazar could not close in on time. Halftime would end 3-1.

Huber Lopez would not waste any time in the second half giving the boys back their three goal advantage when his free kick was misjudged by the Pensacola keeper. The second half saw a more even playing field, with the home team still maintaining most of the possession. The last goal of the evening would come off of an impressive flick on to Ben Clements who would give Pensacola their second goal on the evening, closing the game out 4-2 to the home team.

“We really wanted to get a win for our home opener,” said President, PJ Lynch. “This group is really starting to come together and tonight’s performance in front of our supporters will give us a boost moving forward.”
