New Orleans, LA (June 14th) – Continuing their unbeaten run, CCFC hosted Gulf Coast Rangers of Daphne, AL Saturday evening at Holy Cross Field, which resulted in a 1-1 stale mate between the two clubs.
The evening started in favor of the home side getting a quick jump on controlling the flow of the game and giving the southern Alabama club nothing on their attacking front. The first chance of the game for both teams came in the 12th minute with a laser of a shot from Crescent City’s Chuy Rivera from 30 yards out met the Rangers keeper in the chest. The home side would get on the board in the 36th minute thanks to a clinical header from Meša Muminović off of a Huber Lopez corner kick.
The second half started off with both sides raising the intensity and giving the referee crew a chance to earn their keep. The Rangers would find the back of the net in the 67th minute after a pass back to the CCFC keeper was altered due to the playing surface, forcing Lalo Salazar to come up with a big save, but the deflection would find the feet of Calum Kearny of the Rangers who was gifted with a wide open goal to tie it up 1-1. The game would continue to see both sides keep the intensity high, which would lead to a red card given in the 80th minute to the traveling squad, but CCFC could not prevail after playing a man up with 10 left to go.
