New Orleans, LA (April 16th) – Crescent City FC and coach Wilmer Peralta have agreed to terms to extend the Honduran native’s contract as head coach through 2021.
“Wilmer has been a great addition to the club and has earned the respect of our players and staff,” said club GM, Jonathan Rednour. “His personality is quite infectious and his desire to improve every aspect of our on the field success has been a huge asset during our first year operating at this level.”
Coach Peralta led the club to an impressive run during the GCPL’s Fall Tournament Showcase in late 2020 finishing second in the table by only a small goal differential between Lafayette’s Louisiana Krewe.
“It was important for us to bring in someone that we knew could take on the task of building a competitive roster with the best New Orleans has to offer,” said club President, PJ Lynch. “Our city is riddled with high level players that have plenty of experience playing at the pro ranks, but with that comes challenges of managing those caliber of players.”
“The tournament in 2020 offered me a good chance to work with a lot of new faces,” said coach Peralta. “Knowing the level we need to get to for this summer, we have been working hard to build a roster with the right players to compete. My expectations are high for this season as I know what our players are capable of.”
After a great playing career, featuring for the Honduran national team and clubs such as CD Olimpia, coach Peralta moved to New Orleans in 2008 and has slowly made a name for himself among the local scene, both as a player and as a coach.
“This city has been a great place to live after my professional playing career,” added Peralta. “The people and the culture is so easy to fall in love with, along with the food and entertainment. New Orleans has become a great home.”
Crescent City FC will play a 10 game league schedule from May through July and will participate in the US Open Cup qualifying rounds starting in September. Information on season passes and game day tickets will be shared shortly.
