A strong performance closes out GCPL regular season; CCFC wins 4-1 at home

New Orleans, LA (July 15th) – With GCPL playoff seeding on the line, CCFC was put into another must win scenario and the home crowd were pleased with the effort and result.

Crescent City came out in an attacking 4-3-3 formation, pushing themselves high up the pitch, trying to force mistakes in GCU’s defensive third. This would prove to be an effective tactic as CCFC had a few chances early that would test the opposing keeper early. The biggest chance in the first 25 minutes came from Nestor Peralta Jr. from the top of the 18, just skimming the top of the crossbar. Another chance would come shortly after from Peralta Jr. striking a low and hard ball which forced the keeper to make a diving save to keep the game even at 0-0. CCFC would get on the board in the 45th minute thanks to some fancy footwork from Huber Lopez, slicing the GCU defense and winning the 1v1 battle with the GCU keeper.

Nestor Peralta Jr. continued his scoring streak in the 55th minute of the second half putting the home team up 2-0. GCU would get one back in the 70th minute after an unfortunate back line error. The man of the evening for CCFC, Cristian Canales, would seal the deal in the 85th minute with a beauty of a strike from the top of the 18 giving the 3-1 lead. PJ Lynch’s 88th minute goal would be the icing on the cake closing out the contest 4-1.
